There is an active match angling scene on the Island, with clubs holding regular competitions for their members throughout the year. These competitions cover a wide range of angling challenges, from trying to catch as many fish as possible to specifically targeting individual or multiple species.

Clubs also organise occassional open competitions with cash prizes that anyone can enter.

With conservation in mind, most competitions are run on a catch and release basis.

All clubs welcome new members, and joining a club can be a good way to learn and improve on your fishing skills.
